THIS DRESS HAS POCKETS! She twirls in a moment of real-life delight, forgetting she's about to marry someone she's never met, forgetting the cameras, forgetting the dress's price tag, because... THE DRESS HAS POCKETS!

Yes, women want equal opportunity in fashion! They want clothing with functioning pockets, and RSO is here to say, girl, we get you. 

Pockets provide practical places to tuck chilly hands, mobile devices, lip gloss, keys and whatever else you can fit into the palm of your hands. For years, women's clothing has shied away from pockets because it was believed that pockets add bulk to clothing and could even be unflattering to women's silhouettes. 

Today, some fashion designers are trying to innovate and integrate pockets into women's clothing so it can still be flattering and fashionable while meeting the demands of Boss Babes. Here we'll look at four items of clothing that need more pockets for women: pants, leggings, jackets and dresses. 

Women Want Cargo Pants With Pockets

Cargo pants for men and women are a throwback to the 1990s, but so much better. Today, women's cargo pants have gotten a refresh with maximalist touches in the form of oversized pockets, wide legs and quality zippers. Cargo pants have become some of our best-selling pants for women.

Women Want Leggings With Pockets

If you think women lose their minds when they discover dresses with pockets, wait 'til you see what they say when they discover leggings, sweatpants, and joggers with pockets!

Why Don't Women's Clothes Have More Pockets?

According to Pudding.com, pockets in women's jeans are 48% smaller and 6.5% narrower than men's jeans. (Pudding has a very cool animated infographic that depicts the differences between men's and women's pockets. You can virtually try to fit an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and other items to see the pocket-size differences between men's size 32 pants and women's size 32 pants.)

Some conspiracy theories suggest that the reason women's clothing doesn't have pockets is that the handbag industry just won't have it. We're not buying that. A more believable is that men's pockets are meant to be functional, while women's pockets are meant to be fashionable. That's why you'll sometimes see what's sometimes called Potemkin pockets -- slits in fabric that are sewn shut to create fake pockets.
